Chapter 1.
INTRODUCTION
With the advance of global economy, Chinese corporations have more and more chances to enter international market. International competition is mainly the competition of products. So, the interpretation of instructions is very significant, which would lead the foreign consumers to know well of a product including the quality, properties, and usage. A good instruction can not only make the foreign consumers know a product, but also stimulate them to buy it. But most of product interpretations of Chinese corporations are incorrect, nonstandard, or even funny. For example: “Ma-po Dou-fu”, a Chinese dish, is interpreted into “Tofu made by a pockmarked woman”, and "Si-Xi-Wan-Zi”, also a Chinese dish, is interpreted into "Four-Happy-Mean-Balls". As a result, in domestic markets many products can be sold well, while in international market the situation is reverse. It is proved that a good instruction can raise the sale figure by 30%, while a bad one may lead a company to lose big market.
